Tara Rose worked in the children’s photography industry for almost fifteen years before she began TRaditions. Throughout college, she was making $5.25 an hour working as a mall photographer for a large photography company and eventually worked her way up to an executive-level position. While Tara loved her job, she noticed two significant problems:
People (especially parents) had a negative perception of photography experiences. Whether this was caused by long waiting-lines, fussy children, complicated processes, bad photos, or unfriendly photographers, there was a negative stereotype towards youth-photography.
Photographers were not making enough money to survive doing what they loved. Photography was a passion-turned-side-hustle, and that negatively impacted the industry.
Tara knew she wanted to reset these standards. So, after spending over a decade in the field, she left her position and decided to launch her own company.
In 2008, TRaditions was born. Tara’s vision was to build a business grounded in loving people and capturing that love with a camera. For clients, she wanted to create an unforgettable experience that offered expert photographers, studio-quality images, and reasonable pricing. For employees, she resolved to provide better wages, excellent training, and a rewarding profession.
In 2013, her husband, Jon Carter, joined her to help grow the business model. What started as a one-woman operation in the Northwest has grown into a nationwide company with a high-volume lab that offers photography services, printing services, and retail products. Today, TRaditions continues to deliver on its promise of high-quality experiences and excellent results at a reasonable price. With family and friendship at the core of every photography session, interaction, and transaction, TRaditions is a company that delivers satisfaction every single time.
